The Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (formerly Telecommunications (Interception) Act 1979) is an Act of the Parliament of Australia which prohibits the interception of communications or access to stored communications, with certain exceptions.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.ag.gov.au/NationalSecurity/TelecommunicationsSurveillance/Pages/default.aspx )〕 ==2013-2014 comprehensive revision== On 12 December 2013, the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee began a ''Comprehensive revision of the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (the Act), with regard to the recommendations of the Australian Law Reform Commission For Your Information: Australian Privacy Law and Practice report, dated May 2008, particularly recommendation 71.2; and recommendations relating to the Act from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security Inquiry into the potential reforms of Australia’s National Security Legislation report, dated May 2013.''〔 Their report was supposed to be tabled 10 June 2014, but on the 14th of May 2014, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 27 August 2014.
